Stiles felt good. He felt very good. Like incredibly supercharged and energized. Which was pretty damn impossible considering he'd been on his death bed the past couple of days since he'd been found drained of blood and sporting a nasty bite mark on his neck not too long ago. Everyone had assumed he'd been bitten by one of the alphas encroaching on Beacon Hills.

Oh yeah, he'd been pale and sweaty, mumbling weirder things then usual -- and now he was up and moving around. Not to mention he was scarfing down every bit of food he could find. He'd already cleared out the fridge and had sent Scott out to gather some curly fries and other snacks. Scott, seeing how lively his friend had become, had been only too happy to do so.

Which left him alone in the company of Derek, his pack, and that uber creeper Peter Hale. Seriously, the company was a bit lacking here.

The only odd thing was how pale and underfed he looked, which could have been left to the fact that he'd been borderline death bed the past few days. Add to that the fact that no matter how much he consumed, his hunger was never satisfied.

Oh and Derek had been watching him like a hawk the entire time.

"Dude, what is your problem? You're staring at me like I'm gonna sprout wings or something! It's kinda creeping me out."

There was a smell lingering in the room. A smell he only had the faintest memory of. He'd been a little boy, too young to fully understand things, but old enough to remember. They had had a family friend come over, have dinner and leave. Everyone beside his father had been tense and he'd never come back.

Derek stayed back, toward the door with an easy exit behind him. The smell was strong, metallic and it made the hair stand up on the back of his neck. He was used to feeling fear when it came to Stiles, the boy was barely scary to a human, let alone an alpha. Now though, every instinct was on edge.

"How are you feeling?" he asked, not really caring. He was hoping the answer would explain this reaction he was having. Things didn't add up and when it came to a bite they should. After the mess with Jackson he was wary. Stiles smelt nothing like a wolf and that bite wasn't right. Werewolves didn't leave a man nearly bloodless and leave the fresh meat alone.

Derek jumped back when he saw the eyes, his own flashing. Red meant alpha, but Stiles was no alpha. There was no way, no one started out as an alpha. He growled and backed against the door before he got his instincts under control. It'd been a long time since anything had made him jump like that, but suddenly he felt like he might be in the presence of something powerful, naturally powerful.

He watched with keen eyes as Stiles drank the blood and the stupidest idea came to his mind.

"If you start sparkling I'll put you out of your misery," Derek promised and then left. He came back with a bag of deer that was full of blood and held it up near Stiles.

"Want this?"

At least Stiles was still clumsy, proof that the awkward young boy was still inside of his newly born creature. He felt an odd comfort in that. The boy could be a pain, but the boy was also easy to scare, had a quick mind and an inferiority complex. He'd have to keep all those things in mind when dealing with him.

"I'll get you something fresh later," Derek promised feeling an odd need to help him. No creature newly transformed should be alone. He'd been born into a loving family that understood and could help the impulses, the fears. He might only know lore about this type, but he might be able to study and help. That was if the arrogant boy could take it. Scott, a overly heroic boy, might not be able to handle ever impulse that this change would give Stiles. The blood lust would be worse than Scott could understand and the want to kill, to different from the friend he knew to accept it.

"You're not the stupidest man in the world, Stiles. Surely you've seen Dracula at some point."

Sarcasm to start out with and then, later, there would be anger or tears. It was a bit easier for Stiles, he'd known what was out there.

"That's why I offered. It would absolutely do that for you if you're anything like that pathetic breed," Derek said, more aggression in his voice than before, but no real anger. He made it his business to read up on all the lore about werewolves, even down to the pop culture. He wanted to know what society expected so he could stay in their blind stop.

"I need you to walk with me and just let the light of the sun barely touch you. We need to know your limitations," he said wondering what Stiles would think of the 'we' included.

He turned without an answer and headed to the door, towards the light outside. He opened the door and let the the sun in.

"Until later," Derek said sounding like it meant it and for all Stiles knows he did. He turned back towards the place he was calling their den and knew without looking that Stiles would fallow. That's what he did.

"Take off your shirt. The smell of blood will only make it worse," Derek told him, knowing what the need to fill was like. He only felt it sometimes, Stiles might feel it every minutes of every day. He hoped Stiles was stronger than how he acted or he might really have to start sharpening a stake.

His eyes were shameless as they stared at his pathetic form. Would he be trapped like that forever? At least a werewolf bite improved one's physical form.

He wasn't about to admit that he knew less about vampires than Stiles might think. Legend was as close he got and who was to say the legends of the wolf were any better than those of man.

"Someone you didn't plan to leave you alive. I've never met a species who makes a new life without planning to care for it in some way. They thought you would die or were interrupted in the killing process. I doubt they'll come back for you if they figure out this area is claimed by werewolves," he said, although had no idea if vampires feared werewolves at all. He couldn't see his uncertainty to show and it didn't, if anything, he was almost over confident.

The word orphan made him flinch. He wouldn't let even an annoying brat like Stiles suffer with his condition alone. He couldn't allow it either. A vampire killing spree on his land would make him look weak and he'd definitely have to kill the creature t that did it. Killing Stiles would upset Scott and Scot was hard enough to do deal with when he wasn't out for vengeance.

"We'll have to wait and see. These things normally develop and develop faster when you're fed. I'll take you hunting once the sun goes down and we'll get you some flesh blood. Let's just hope animal blood will sooth you. If not, things might get more complicated."

Derek moved without commanding himself to do it. He felt as if he'd been called by a untangle voice and had no urge to resist the commands. He saw himself, as if watching someone else, go up and grab Stile's shoulders. He felt bare skin under his hand, but couldn't pull away from it. He rubbed the thin, almost fail muscles with all the tenderness his big hands could give.

His eyes searched side to side as if the answer might be written in the air in fromt of him.

"Stiles," he growled, his want to bite the other man's head off obvious in the tone.

His human fear was what would keep him manageable. Derek realized with a sudden rush of anger just how powerful Stiles was and how much control he had over him. He turned his head as he backed away, saving his snarls for the ground. Blame the curse, not those who suffer from it, he thought, remember an old passage he'd read in the old books. The ones that had been burnt in the fire.

"Never again," Derek warned. He could understand though, that need for comfort. He remembered his first moon, at least the first he could remember. He remember that need to kill and the fear that he might. It was that memory, not a command, that brought him closer. He put his hand on Stiles's shoulder, proving the ability wasn't nearly full formed, as well as comforting him in some small way.

"Nothing is going to be easy from now, but you don't have to be alone with it either."

"You're undead, a sort of limbo between them both. No heartbeat. I noticed that the moment Scott brought you here. You don't need to breath, or eat anything besides blood," he said, not sure what the food he had ate would do to his system. He didn't know so much and there was no one he could talk to. He might as well go watch some pop culture about vampires for all he was about to learn about them. It'd be trail and error.

"Scott will be fine. You sent him out to get curly fries not jump off a bridge. Although I don't know when he'll come back since you didn't tell him to."

"You'll have longevity now," he said refusing to call it immortality. Immortality suggested one was impossible to kill and that wasn't right. Derek could find way to kill him, he was sure of it. He didn't need to and with any luck he won't have to.

He walked as he spoke, leading Stiles to a large waredrobe. He opened it and inside there was clothing of all types. Men, women, even some childrens's clothing, all labeled and categorized according to size and gender. All of it was black since it was for someone who had come back from the a full moon.

Derek glared at him, as he was wearing a black shirt with dark blue jeans and a leather jacket on top. Was he saying he didn't like his outfit? Derek felt like he should be offended.

"Can you hear my heartbeat? Do you get hungry when you hear it?" he asked, needing to know. He wanted an idea of how bad this blood lust would get, how hard it'd be to control. They might do to keep Stiles away from the public for as long as possible, but he'd need to see his father sooner than later.

Derek saw the fangs and tensed. That wasn't as a good sign. Part of him was considering killing him now, getting rid of the creature before it got worse, especially with his ability. His hand was stayed by the thought of the hunters. He'd hated them for what they did, so how could he do the same without hating himself. Stiles hadn't hurt anyone, not yet and he might never.

"Think about your father. Think about Scott. Focus on something human," Derek advised him as he might someone who had felt the pull of the moon for the first time, "Remember why blood isn't the most important thing to you."

He remembered the young pack he'd made and their rage the first time. He'd tied them up and made them stop. He considered doing that for Stiles, but it didn't seem like a long term solution. This would be very day for the poor kid, every minute he'd be hungry unless he fed. The weakness of his first days like this couldn't be easy.

He rolled up his sleeve and offering his forearm to him. This was a bad idea. The first taste might do him in, but no matter what, he'd be hungry.

"I'll heal," he said knowing it was better than letting a hungry Stiles out on an unsuspecting public, "I'll give you exactly how much I want and then I'll push you off. If you try to take even a drop more, I'll destroy you."

Never mind that Stiles had mind control abilities and they had no idea what werewolf blood would do for him. There were more questions than answers and death was such threat for both of them.

It hurt, but no worse than the many times he'd broken bones and that one time he'd snapped his spinal cord. The more he drank, the more Derek felt sick. He felt like his head was spinning and it started to hurt. He put his hand on Stiles' forehead and pried him off, his strength enough to pull Stiles' teeth through his flesh and out the other side. He put his hand down to stop the bleeding.

"That's enough," he snapped and wrenched himself away, turning his back on him.

It hurt and he felt weak, but he wasn't dead. It wasn't something he was going to repeat anytime soon though. His arm was already healing and he could feel new blood coming back to his veins. Stiles had taken a lot, obviously.

"I'm fine. I've been hurt worse," Derek snapped, not letting the scrawny boy know how dangerous he was.

"How do you feel?" he asked hoping the answer would be satisfied. If not, if the only satisfaction was drinking to the point of death then Derek might just have to put him down for good.

"I bet you do. It's alpha blood," he said with more than a hint of arrogance. He went over to his bed, the wardrobe was in the abandoned room that he called his own now. He'd set it up like most master bedrooms, but it had a very spartan feel. He could pick up and leave at a moments notice.

"You have two choices," he said as he sat at the edge of the bed and stared up at him, "You can either tell your father or you can never see him again. You're too dangerous for him to be around you without full disclosure."

"The Sheriff already knows something is going on. My guess is that he thinks it's drug related, you producing it would be my guess," Derek suggested. He hardly knew about the man, but he'd already made an assumption or two about him. It wasn't hard.

"From what I know you need to do three things for a human to understand. You need to be direct, you need to be calm and most of all, you need proof. Which you would the moment you see a bit of red."

He paused for a moment then sat back, his eyes still staring at the healing wound.

"I could...come with you if you don't want to go vampire on him. It might be safer, until you have more control."

"It will take months, maybe even years. Do you want your widower of a father to worry about you for that long? What are you going to do in a few years when you've stopped aging. Your cliche high school boy looks never go away even when you've turned thirty," he said hitting some hard truths. Stiles might want to deny it, but it was cut and dry in Derek's mind.

"But you have to," Derek said his eyes turning red as he stood up, walking towards the boy. He glared at him then saw the wall. The stupid boy that was too powerful than was safe for any of them. He felt the need to take care of Stiles, in a way, but he was very aware that Stiles wasn't part of his

"Your father can take it. You all seem to think keeping your loved ones in the dark will keep them safe, but it won't. He hasn't yet, has it? Your father will understand. The bond between a child and it's father is deeper than that, it's deeper than any change or any divide," Derek said, something soft in him showing when he talked about family. His, obviously, had meant a lot to him.

Derek wanted to kill him. He wanted to rip his throat out and show him who the true alpha was. He was about to when he paused. He let out a slow breath and calmed himself slowly. Stiles was only a boy, confused and scared of what was happening. That and he didn't want to risk losing a fight to him. He felt for once that he might not win or that he'd be taken down easier than he would want Stiles to know he could. Derek, for all his big and gruff was not dumb and didn't pick a fight for no good reason.

"Calm down, you're making a fool of yourself," Derek said and broke eye contact, walking away. It was a dangerous move, but showing his back to Stiles might snap back in his humanity. They taught very strongly that you never attacked a man from behind.

His eyes flashed red again he almost turned around, almost jumped at him, but he swallowed that bit of himself. He wasn't an animal. He was talking to a near childish boy who was not going to get the upper hand and make him lose control.

"I do know more about you then you do right now. I'm just trying to put the pieces back together," Derek said slowly turning his head back towards him, his eyes human again.

He did, Derek thought, but maybe it was too soon to address that issue. Maybe the steps should be stronger for someone who had been taken without permission and left for dead.

"I'm not very good at being sensitive," he said turning fully towards him, "This has always been normal for me, so being a newly formed vampire isn't something I relate with easy. It should be sometime before you're deciding anything massive like that."

Holding his tongue wasn't easy for him and he know he's have to go fight or kill something to get out the frustration.
